Haven’t We Met Before?
Life is based on a huge number of illusions in which we all collaborate willingly.
As part of a three month residency in 2018 at Madrone Art Bar, performance artist Jenell Del Cid presented a voyeuristic window into sexuality, feminine identity, and the role of technology in American society. Through visual cues, iconography, humor, elaborate costumes and performance, Jenell deconstructed stereotypical female representations and exposed the practice of representation itself, challenging the audience to question its own attraction and repulsion and embody the shock encountered when our constructed reality is torn down around us.
